On September 11, Cornell Republicans and Cornell Democrats united to co-host a 9/11 Memorial Flag Planting on the Arts Quad. The event brought together members of the Cornell community to plant flags, each representing a life lost in the tragic terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Cornell Democrats President Niles Hite ’26 stated,
“When it comes to 9/11 memorials, it’s tradition to place down flags for those that lost their lives, this has been done all over the country for years by organizations and college campuses, and we collectively thought that Cornell should be no exception to that.”
Cornell Republicans Executive Vice President Max Whalen ’26 echoed this sentiment, stressing the significance of collaboration and unity in honoring the victims of the largest terrorist attack in U.S. history.
